…In other news, I spoke to my mum today and she is calm, and says there is no panic yet (for those who don’t know my parents live in Kakhovka which is very close to the Sea of Azov and Crimea). Our region supplies Crimea with electricity and water so it’s a huge worry for me. My mum and dad both have UK visas and could fly over to be with us, but my mum says they are staying put. She says they will defend themselves if needed. Mum said she is also prepping her pink tomato seeds and getting her garden ready. I am so proud of both of them and am in awe of their strength and resilience, and composure. ⁣

On a much more positive note, my parents are well and were smiling on the phone. My mum had this crazy dream that my dad came into the house late at night hugging Putin with a crooked Hitler mustache. She was shocked and shouted – “Petro, what the hell are you doing!?”And he blinked at her and whispered “I am not drunk, I am pretending, so I could take him away from the people.”

So let’s not forget that Ukraine is not headlines, it’s people.
