Anne Helen Petersen | A project 18 months in the making. Master woodworker Tom Lutz did all the hard stuff, including and especially setting the anchors in a house that, in Tom’s words, “has no right angles and is built like a boat.” @cwarzel did the genuinely hard work of lugging 10 boxes of books from the storage unit to the house. I did the much less arduous but still time-consuming labor of climbing up the ladder with five to six books and arranging everything in my system, which makes sense to me and me alone. When you’re a kid, you dream about what it will be like to have a place that’s yours. My dream was always small and “cozy” and defined by books. Whatever we do with the rest of this old fishing cabin these shelves will always be my favorite.
